The “Be Like Bob” Foundation was founded in 2019 to honor the memory of “Big Bob” Earley, a man whose enormous personality was only matched by his even bigger heart. Bob’s impact was felt by everyone he met—whether through his unwavering service to his country, his commitment to his community, or his love for his family. Bob proudly served in the US Navy for four years, stationed in Norfolk, VA, and after returning home, he spent countless hours giving back to his community. He was a dedicated coach and mentor for Azalea Little League’s Challenger Baseball program, helping young athletes with disabilities discover the joy of the game. Bob also served as the longest-running president of Azalea Little League, a role he cherished for over 10 years, always putting the needs of others first. Beyond Little League, Bob’s heart for service extended to coaching with the TAC Neptunes Football and Basketball program, where he earned the affectionate nicknames “Coach Bob,” “Coach Taz,” and “Uncle Bob.” He was always there, not just as a coach, but as a mentor and a friend to the kids in the program. Bob was incredibly proud of his contributions as a blood donor, giving over 71 units (that’s 8 gallons!) of O-negative blood to CHKD, a testament to his selflessness. He also played a pivotal role in shaping the culture of Q-Master Billiards and the US Open 9-Ball Championships, creating a family-like atmosphere that still exists today. But perhaps Bob’s greatest legacy was the love he showed his family. As a devoted husband to his wife of 38 years, Linda, Bob was the rock of his family. He was a mentor, confidant, and best friend to his children: Bobby, Ashley, and Ryan, and an extraordinary Papa to his grandchildren: Fayth, Trey, Brandon, Avery, Chaynce, Evan, and Olivia. To Bob, family wasn’t just about blood; it was about making everyone feel important and loved, no matter who they were or where they came from. Bob never met a stranger, never held back his opinions, and always made sure to leave a positive mark on everyone he encountered. His legacy lives on in every person he touched, and now we invite you to Be Like Bob—to live with kindness, generosity, and a heart open to others.
